For more information about the sport of falconry and its rich history, you can check out some of the books I read in preparation for getting my license and just for fun. Some of these are more practical guides to falconry, whereas others contain more anecdotes and the like. There are PLENTY more books out here than these few and they are all fascinating to check out. North American Falconry and Hunting Hawks by Beebe and Webster is the falconer’s bible and it is almost impossible to get because it has been out of print for several years. I was lucky my sponsor had a copy, because used copies from amazon went for anywhere from a couple hundred bucks to more than 1000 dollars. If you want to get a copy of the New York State Falconry Guide or Examination Manual, you simply need to request that they be mailed to you by the state and they’ll do it for free.
